2004 Ford F150
This was a really good truck.  In my eyes you just can’t go wrong with a Ford product.  Loaded with the Triton V8 engine
and the FX-4 off-road package there was little that I needed that this truck couldn’t provide.  Except for more cab room.
In this model year you had to make the choice between getting a full length bed and sacrificing the full four door crew
cab or buying the bigger cab only to give up bed length.  Well… I chose poorly.  And found that the smaller extended cab
just was too crowded when I stuffed hapless victims into the back.  My only other complaint about the truck was the
weak factory equipment Wrangler ATS tires.  They were fine on the road but a disaster off-road.  I got a screaming deal
on some new “C” rated Wrangler Silent Armor’s and couldn’t have been happier.  The tires were very civilized on the
road and extremely capable off-road.
Right off the dealer lot this truck
proved itself to be a very capable
expedition vehicle - except for the
weak Wrangler ATS street tires.
Off-road this truck proved itself to
be a very capable performer.  It
couldn't handle the technical stuff
like the Jeep Wrangler or Land
Rover Discovery but it certainly
had the power and performance
to go the distance in the back
country.
This is a pretty typical road for
where I live in Arizona.  The lower
section was extremely tight and
twisty.  It was a real white knuckle
ride.  One wrong turn and down
into the canyon you go!
I stuck with the factory spec tire size when
upgrading to the Wrangler Silent Armor's and
found that the tire tucked exceptionally well
into the wheel wells.  The Wrangler Silent
Armor tires were great performers off-road
and on.
